Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch is undergoing some significant changes to balance, one of them being Hero Pools which goes live next month. The other is the Experimental Card, a game mode that features radical balance changes introduced for a limited time. The key difference between this and the Public Test Server is that players can earn XP and rewards and it’s available for all platforms.

In a new developer update, director Jeff Kaplan revealed that the first Experimental Card would go live today. Dubbed “Triple Damage”, it actually changes the usual 2-2-2 role queue to 3-2-1. This means that teams can field three DPS heroes, two supports and one tank. Of course, as Kaplan states in the video, this isn’t a feature that’s coming to the game – it’s a way to tinker with the norm.

Aside from Hero Pools and Experimental Cards, there’s quite a bit happening with the series. Overwatch 2 is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, and will feature a story campaign. Players of the original game can also carry over their progress and access the new maps and heroes without purchasing the sequel.
