Loading time in State of Decay 2 compared between Xbox Series X and Xbox One X.

Xbox Series X

Microsoft has released some new videos for the Xbox Series X, one comparing the loading time on State of Decay 2 with the Xbox One X, and the other serving as a tech demo for the Quick Resume feature. The first is fairly straightforward but still incredibly impressive. State of Decay 2 only takes 9 to 10 seconds to load on the Series X compared to roughly 50 seconds on the Xbox One X.

Quick Resume looks arguably more intriguing. It’s possible to queue up multiple games, suspend them and pick up where you left off before. A slight delay can be seen for something like Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice but it’s early days yet. Of course, it’d be more interesting to see how the technology fares when handling Xbox Series X exclusives.

The Xbox Series X is currently slated to release in holiday 2020. A report by research firm DFC Intelligence indicates that the console (along with the PS5) could be pushed back due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months especially with Microsoft planning an Xbox digital event in lieu of an E3 presser.
