The PS5 controller won't die out on you very easily, as per Sony.

Sony recently officially revealed the PS5 controller recently- called the DualSense, it’s taking a slightly different approach than what the PlayStation line of consoles has stuck to over the years. Not only does it have a very different aesthetic and changed ergonomics, new features such as its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, along with the new Create button, also promise to be interesting iterative upgrades.

One area where many will be hoping the controller will make improvements, however, is its battery life, which is something that the DualShock 4 in particular has caught plenty of flak for over the years. And while Sony have not explicitly said that the DualSense will be better than its predecessor in that regard, they have said that the controller will have a strong battery life.

“We also took thoughtful consideration into ways to maintain a strong battery life for DualSense’s rechargeable battery,” wrote senior VP of platform planning and management Hideaki Nishino in yesterday’s blog, “and to lessen the weight of the controller as much as possible as new features were added.”

While that doesn’t necessarily equate to the DualSense having an advantage over the DualShock 4 in terms of battery life, we do hope that Sony will have taken feedback on the PS4 controller into account while working on their next-gen hardware.

Meanwhile, it’s also been confirmed that contrary to a few reports, the DualSense does still have an audio jack.
