For weeks now, we’re gotten tons of rumors about the rebooting of the horror franchise, Silent Hill. While there’s been murmurs of some plans for the series for quite some time, not long ago a rumor appeared that not only was Konami and Sony collaborating on a reboot to the series, but also that the legendary canceled Silent Hills was possibly getting revived, even with involvement from Hideo Kojima (you can read about that through here). Konami quickly came out to squash those rumors, but it seems they won’t die just yet.

A new leak has come via the popular ResetERA gaming forum from a poster named KatharsisT claiming that the reboot of the franchise is, in fact, still on and would include some of the original Team Silent that developed the first four titles in the franchise, specifically Director Keiichiro Toyama, Illustrator Masahiro Ito and Composer Akira Yamaoka. They claim this game is some type of collaborated effort between Konami and Sony with Sony handling the game’s development, and it will be announced in the next few months. It will also allegedly be a PlayStation 5 exclusive title.

In regards to the Silent Hills rumor, KatharsisT says they had heard that at some point negotiations were ongoing, but had not heard much to indicate knowledge on the alleged project.

KatharsisT is, to my knowledge, a fresh name in the whole leaker game, but the admins at ResetERA claim they verified this person’s information. Still, take all of this will a grain of salt, as inaccurate information has come from the site before even from “verified” sources. Still, the rumors on this are starting to pile up it feels, and earlier in the day a famed Japanese horror manga artist posted some Silent Hill-related pictures, which you can read more about through here.

The franchise had several acclaimed titles in the early 2000s, but after the disbanding of Team Silent, Konami tried multiple other developers and takes before retiring Silent Hill after 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour. At one point, a revival of some kind was planned called Silent Hills that would be spearheaded by Hideo Kojima, but his exit from the company killed that project. What a game in the series would look like in today’s world is anyone’s guess, but perhaps we’ll see soon.
