With Microsoft rumored to be hosting two digital events in May and June to hype up the future, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been providing small tidbits on what to expect. Last week, he teased not having to wait much longer for Xbox Series X game reveals. Recently, he spoke on Twitter about ray-tracing on the console and the impact of Dynamic Latency Input.

He noted that, “Ray-tracing on console will be great. I’m very focused on the work we are doing around Dynamic Latency Input (DLI). In my view the feel of games this upcoming generation will change as dramatically as any since 2D to 3D given CPU upgrade, DLI, memory bandwidth and SSD.”

This isn’t the first time that Spencer has spoken about the feel of games, as well as expressing interest in frame rate over higher resolutions. It’s ambitious and could pave the way forward for a number of genres. Then again, it will ultimately depend on the games themselves and the developers behind them.

The Xbox Series X is set to release this holiday season (barring any delays due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic). Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks, especially regarding Microsoft’s digital events for the console.
