Among the supposed “gameplay” reveals for titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Bandai Namco stood out with its own hack and slash action RPG Scarlet Nexus. Announced for Xbox One and Xbox Series, the development team is being led by former members behind the “Tales” series (including those who worked on Tales of Vesperia). Check out the trailer for yourself below.

Taking place in the distant future, Scarlet Nexus sees humans with psychic powers called Psionics battling against mutants called the Others. You play as Yuito Sumeragi who utilizes telekinesis and can throw pieces of the environment at foes while hacking them apart. There’s a real Astral Chain vibe here and it looks pretty cool.

Though a release date wasn’t revealed, Smart Delivery will be supported. So if you pick up the game on Xbox One, you’ll receive a free upgraded version for Xbox Series X when it launches. As producer Keita Iizuka states, “The next generation of video game home consoles lets the development team realize the full potential of Scarlet Nexus.

“Players can expect visuals and psychic battles with high resolution and frame rate along with fully interactive real-time battles with dynamic animation. Utilizing Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X also means players can enjoy the best version of Scarlet Nexus regardless of whether they are playing on the next generation with Xbox Series X or Xbox One.”

Stay tuned for more details on Scarlet Nexus in the coming months.
