At last week’s Pokemon Presents broadcast, The Pokemon Company announced another broadcast for today, dedicated to revealing a big new project. As always, many were hoping that the Sinnoh remakes would finally be announced- predictably enough, they weren’t.

Instead, The Pokemon Company has unveiled Pokemon Unite, a MOBA described as a 5v5 strategic team battle game. In every match, teams will fight against each other to score in goals in the opposing team’s area of the arena, with the aim of outscoring their opponents, while players will also work with their teammates to fight and catch wild Pokemon, as well as level up and evolve. Battles will be real-time, as you may have guessed.

Pokemon Unite is being developed by Tencent– more specifically, Tencent’s TiMi Studios, who also developed Call of Duty Mobile. It will be a free-to-start title (so expect lots of microtransactions), and will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Complete cross-play has also been confirmed.

No release date has yet been announced.
