343 Industries have revealed very little about what the central premise for the upcoming Halo Infinite is going to be, but a recently released teaser may have revealed some pretty important details. Taking to social media via the official Halo account, 343 have more or less confirmed that The Banished – the mercenary faction that broke off from the Covenant – will be coming back in what seems like a major capacity in Halo Infinite.

A deep, distorted voice in the trailer talks about Banished forces having established complete control over a Halo ring (or being hours away from doing so, at least). Their motivations? Not good.

For those who may not know who The Banished are, they first appeared as the primary antagonists in Halo Wars 2, which takes place after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. The message in the teaser raises a lot of interesting questions- what happened to Atriox? What do they plan to do with the Halo installation?

We will probably have answers to these questions sooner rather than later, with Microsoft intending to do a grand Halo Infinite reveal at their first party-focused event in July.

Halo Infinite is scheduled to release for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC this holiday. A recent rumour suggested that similar to God of War, the game will have a single shot camera- read more on that through here.
