Destiny 2’s next big paid expansion Beyond Light has been delayed. Originally set to release on September 22nd, it’s now releasing on November 10th. According to Bungie in its latest news post, the delay was done in order to deliver the “coolest, most entertaining expansion we can possibly make for our fans.”

“As the first chapter in a new trilogy of expansions, Beyond Light is the beginning of a new era of Destiny 2. We have a powerful story to tell and incredible new features that we’re really excited for players to experience. As always, our goal is to make the coolest, most entertaining expansion we can possibly make for our fans. To that end, we are doing what’s best for the game and moving the launch date.”

The COVID-19 pandemic and shift to working from home seems to have contributed to the delay as well. “The past few months have been a challenge and will continue to be during this pandemic. We’ve learned to create together in a new way, by having to work apart from one another. Despite these hurdles, we’re still committed to the same level of quality that our fans expect.”

Season of Arrivals, which is currently ongoing and originally set to end with the expansion’s launch, will now run till November 10th. More details will be revealed for Beyond Light in the coming weeks so fans are advised to stay tuned. How the vaulting of current content and the return of Destiny 1’s Cosmodrome will be affected is unknown so expect details on that as well.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be releasing for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia along with a launch for Xbox Series X and PS5. It sees players traveling to Europa to stop a Fallen Kell of Darkness from rising to power. Perhaps the most intriguing part of the expansion is the addition of a new element, Stasis, as part of new Darkness sub-classes. There will also be a new raid, Deep Stone Crypt.
