Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 goes into early access tomorrow after numerous delays. It’s going to have quite the amount of content with a strong character creator, 16 races and sub-races, Origins characters and the first act of the game. But according to the requirements page on the game’s Steam listing, 150 GB of storage space is needed. So what gives?
On Twitter, Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse clarified that the install size is actually “around 80 GB” and that “it doesn’t take up 150.” However, he curiously added that, “We like you having at least 150 GB because that’s just good for you.” It’s possible that the final product is targeting 150 GB and the developer wants fans aware of this from the get-go. Unfortunately, this reason wasn’t specified.
We’ll likely find out in the coming months as more content is added. Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to PC and Google Stadia. Early access will be a $60 release with 25 hours of content overall. Larian Studios also recently discussed how romances will work in the game – you can learn more about that here.
