Cyberpunk 2077 on Base PS4 and Xbox One is “Surprisingly Good for Such a Huge World” – CDPR

The developer says it was able to "achieve a lot" during the three extra weeks of polish.

Whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 will be able to hit an acceptable level of performance on the base PS4 and Xbox One is something that many have been concerned about for a while now. CD Projekt RED themselves – who’re intent on releasing a 90+ Metascore game – delayed the game by three weeks to optimize it further on the base consoles. So with that delay under their belt, how is the game now performing on the machines?

CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicisnki recently spoke about the same during the company’s recent quarterly investors call, and said that those three additional weeks have helped the developer get the game to a better level of performance on the base machines.

“I mean, PS5 is great. PS4 is still very good,” he said (via Seeking Alpha). “I mean, we had those extra three weeks and we achieved a lot by — within this final stretch. So, we believe that the game is performing great on every platform.”

It’s worth noting that even though we have seen Cyberpunk 2077 running on an Xbox One X and on a PS4 Pro, we haven’t seen any gameplay yet on the base machines. Kicisnki, however, says that the game performs “surprisingly good” on those two machines- for a game of its size.

“Of course, a bit lower than on pros, but surprisingly good, I would say for such a huge world,” Kicisnki said about Cyberpunk 2077’s performance on base consoles. “So, bit lower, but very good. That’s the answer.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is due out on December 10 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia, and will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility, with next-gen ports coming next year. You can check out its PC requirements through here.

On PS4, the game will ship on two Blu-ray discs.

CD Projekt RED have also insisted that the game won’t be delayed past its December 10 release date (though they said that for the November 19 date as well, so…).
