Originally set for "early 2021," the free DLC now has a more vague release window.

CD Projekt RED has been through the wringer when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077. Despite strong sales, it’s faced significant backlash for cut features, bugs and performance issues on Xbox One and PS4. It’s even dealing with lawsuits, the second of which was confirmed recently. The developer has laid out a roadmap, ambiguous as it is, and assured previously that free DLC would be coming in early 2021.

However, as discovered by Potato95x on Reddit, that’s no longer the case. The official page for the game’s free DLC has been updated to now state its release “in the coming months.” You can check the original post on the Wayback Machine here which clearly states “early 2021” as a release date.

There are a couple of potential reasons as to why this change was made. With the developer having trouble internally before release, what with crunch and other issues cropping up, it probably wants to avoid committing to any solid release window. After all, the “coming months” could mean the same thing regardless if it’s seen in January, April or even September. In the meantime, the developer can focus on its major updates to fix the console versions.

We’ll have to wait and see how this all pans out but suffice it to say that you shouldn’t expect any free DLC anytime soon. Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Stadia – its Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions are planned for release later this year.
