People Can Fly has detailed the upcoming Outriders demo, which goes live on February 25 at 9 AM PST, via an extensive thread of tweets. It confirmed first and foremost that the demo would be free and is not a beta. Release timings were also revealed per region with Tokyo and Sydney receiving access early in the morning on February 26th.
The demo will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC via Steam and Nvidia GeForce NOW. A minimum of 24 GB is required on PC while consoles need 22 GB at minimum (though these could increase after decompressing). Pre-loading will not be available beforehand but the demo won’t have a time limit and will be live even after the game’s launch.
In terms of content, players can access the prologue and opening chapter. Enemies and gear will thus be limited to the most basic, early game versions. All four classes will be available along with six character slots. Characters are capped at level 7, which means they can access their fourth ability. Players can also progress up to World Tier 5, which provides a chance for more powerful gear to drop at the cost of a higher difficulty. Note that “the drop chance for Legendary Gear is still extremely low” though.
As for resources, they’ll also be capped at a “certain (generous) amount” to ensure properly balance for those who go into the full game. That’s because one’s progress can be transferred between the same platform account. Unfortunately, transferring progress between platforms or from the Steam demo to the full game on the Epic Games Store won’t be possible. Though cross-platform play is included, it’s in beta testing and must be enabled manually from one’s settings.
Outriders is currently slated to release on April 1st. Stay tuned for more details when the demo goes live next week.
This will be a Demo, NOT a Beta.

The demo includes the game’s prologue & opening chapter. This means that gear & enemies that you come across will be the early game variants.
The further you get in the full Outriders story, the more twisted, exotic and powerful both gear & enemies will become

Your Character levels are capped to Level 7
This will allow you to earn your classes 4th ability and be able to to mix and match your active skills in the demo.
This will also allow you to earn 2 skill points that you can apply to your skill tree.

You can progress up to World Tier 5.
World Tiers are our dynamic difficulty system. At level 5, your chance for higher rarity gear is increased, but the drop chance for Legendary Gear is still extremely low.
