Among all of the big releases this month, Experiment 101’s Biomutant is something of a dark horse. Announced back in 2017, the open world RPG offers an intriguing mix of exploration, open world activities, narrative consequences and combat. A new gameplay video from Game Informer showcases several of those features in roughly 12 minutes – check it out below.

The combat will probably appeal most to players. It appears to be a combination of Ratchet and Clank’s third person shooting and strafing combined with Devil May Cry-like hack and slash combos and action RPG-esque loot. The world itself also looks pretty fetching and there are numerous ways to explore it, including mounts and mechs.

Biomutant is out on May 25th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC (with backwards compatibility support on Xbox Series X/S and PS5). Those who pre-order the game will also receive the Mercenary class for free with its dual-wield ability. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay on the title before release.
