When Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 2042 releases, it won’t have a single-player campaign or battle royale mode to fall back, instead pushing its multiplayer modes first and foremost. This may seem limited, especially given the $70 price tag on current-gen consoles, but DICE LA was revealed to be working on an “undisclosed” mode that’s a “love letter” to long-term players and fans. According to insider Tom Henderson, who received an email on the same, the mode could be “Battlefield Hub.”
Rumored some months ago, it apparently offers classic maps, weapons, vehicles and so on. While the information and images in the mail couldn’t be 100 percent verified, Henderson notes that it would make sense for this to be a “love letter” to fans. The mode will be revealed on July 22nd, which is the date of EA Play Live, so either way we’ll be learning more next month.
It also seems that battle royale hasn’t been ruled out entirely. When asked if there was any information on the same, Henderson replied, “Next year” which could indicate its release window. Given the ability to hit 64 players on PS4 and Xbox One while current-gen consoles and PC can accommodate 128 players in Conquest matches, it wouldn’t be the strangest thing to see battle royale added later.
Battlefield 2042 is currently slated to release on October 22nd for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC.
I had an interesting email last night stating the REDACTED mode in #BATTLEFIELD2042 (to be revealed on July 22nd) is actually the rumored "Battlefield Hub" we heard about a couple months back. It contains classic maps, weapons, vehicles and more.

The email did contain some info and images – At this stage I can't verify it 100% and it could all be made up, so I'll do some more digging, but it certainly makes sense as a "love letter". But it will be very interesting if true.
