Final Fantasy action RPG made by the team behind Nioh is an instantly compelling concept, and even though it had a pretty bad reveal at E3, those who’ve gone hands on with the game in its PS5-exclusive trial (now that it’s actually working) have said that in terms of how it plays, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is actually looking quite promising.

But story is and always has been a crucial part of any Final Fantasy experience- so what should players expect from Stranger of Paradise in that area? According to its developers, story is a crucial part of the game and will make a lasting impact on players.

“In the full game, there will be even more characters, the game will be a lot broader, and I think the story is quite compelling,” creative producer Tetsuya Nomura said in an interview with Weekly Famitsu (via VG247). “It might be a bit confusing to see these characters come out of nowhere, completely unlike anything you were expecting, but I hope you’ll keep an eye on upcoming information.”

Producer Jin Fujiwara added: “The story is only touched on very briefly in the trial version, but once it unfolds, it’s a very impactful story that will really hit you emotionally. Please look forward to the game and keep an eye out for further news.”

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is due out some time in 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Its PS5-exclusive trial version is live until June 24th, but if you don’t have access to a PS5, you can also check out plenty of gameplay footage through here.
