While Ubisoft has committed to supporting Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for another year, development on the next title is seemingly underway. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, it’s currently codenamed “Assassin’s Creed Infinity.” Sources familiar with development said that it “sets out to create a massive online platform that evolves over time” which sounds like a live service title.

Along with containing multiple settings, there will be room for others to be added post-launch. While individual titles may look and feel different on this “platform”, they will be connected. The project is still years off from launch and sees the unified Montreal and Quebec teams collaborating together (though the latter is in charge). A spokeswoman at Ubisoft said this change was done for the franchise to “evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that’s less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft.”

Development has reportedly been suffering from the abuse allegations brought against senior Ubisoft members over the past year. The reorganization of the two teams has reportedly “rankled” employees but even worse is that managers accused of abuse are still in senior positions as per sources. Complaints have emerged on Ubisoft’s internal message board with Bloomberg reviewing French translations for the same.

Overall, the next Assassin’s Creed is a ways off and it wouldn’t be all that strange for other projects to gravitate to the forefront. Stay tuned for more details on the title in the meantime.
