In a recent interview with Game Informer, head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst reveals some interesting insights about the subsequent release of PlayStation exclusives on the PC platform. During the interview, he reveals that developing exclusive experiences is still the priority, but more PlayStation games might to come to PC in the near future.

Horizon: Zero Dawn released for PC three years after its PlayStation release, while Days Gone took considerably less time to come to the PC platform with two years in between releases. Hulst states that the team wants to typically have two years in between those releases, which sets the stage for how long the wait for future PlayStation 5 exclusives will be for fans.

“Typically, there have been about two years between the release on our platform and the PC platform,” Hulst said. “But you can rely on us to continue to create platform-defining exclusive content for PlayStation—that’s part of the reason why we exist. It’s really important for us to squeeze the maximum out of the platform, to build showcases for the platform, and really let the audience see what these great features are contributing to the overall experience.”

PlayStation seems to be pushing more towards the PC platform, which is backed by the recent acquisition of Nixxes which Sony confirmed was aimed at developing more ports. Days Gone garnered great success with its PC release, and so did Death Stranding. With Epic Games reportedly offering $200 million for platform exclusivity – there’s more than enough reason for Sony to alter its stance on exclusivity.
