Amazon Game Studios’ MMORPG New World recently launched at last, after some delays and plenty of anticipation, and it’s fair to say that the game’s gotten off to a great start. Upon its launch, we reported on the ridiculously high player counts it was seeing on Steam, and the game has also been seeing server congestions, forcing people to wait in queues for hours on end at times.

So yeah, it’s had a pretty successful launch. In fact, Amazon took to Twitter via the game’s official page and revealed that New World was played by over a million players on launch day, and that as you’d expect, each day that number has increased further. Meanwhile, Amazon also says that it has already doubled the number of servers since launch, and is going to keep on working to increase the capacity of all servers to cut down on the queues and waiting times.

“Since our launch on Tuesday, we have more than doubled the number of servers and we are working to increase the capacity of all available servers to support a higher population cap,” the developer wrote. “Our team has been working around the clock to add as many servers as we can and will continue to do so until we stabilize wait times.”

A feature that will allow players to transfer characters across servers is also in the works, and currently, the plan is to release this feature some time next week. “Prior to its release, we will provide detailed information on how the transfer process works,” Amazon says. “We know how important it is to be able to play with friends, so we’re putting this feature at the top of our priority list.”

New World is available on PC, and for the foreseeable future, will be available only on PC.
