The PS5 is a year old, and though its constant supply shortages have been a nuisance that a lot of people have had to deal with, the console has been a massive success for Sony on every level. Currently standing at 13.4 million units shipped worldwide, the PS5 has enjoyed the biggest and fastest ever launch for a console to date, and with its first year defined by releases such as Returnal, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Demon’s Soulsand more, it’s been building up a solid library as well.

And PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan promises this is just the beginning. In a recently published update on the PlayStation Blog, Ryan celebrated the PS5’s first birthday by sharing some interesting figures – like a collective play time of 4.6 billion hours by all PS5 players – before then promising that there’s a lot more to come. “A busy year indeed, and we are just getting started with PS5,” Ryan said, before re-iterating that there are currently over 25 exclusive titles currently in the works under the PlayStation Studios banner. Previously, Ryan has said that over half of these are new IP.

What these new games are remains to be seen, but based on what has been officially announced yet, the PS5 is still looking to have a stacked year in 2022, with the likes of Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, God of War: Ragnarok, and many more confirmed for the year.

Recently, it was reported that Sony has had to cut down on PS5 production due to a lack of semiconductor chips. Read more on that through here.
