Gran Turismo 7

In a new State of Play presentation, Polyphony Digital’s Kazunori Yamauchi provided tons of new details for Gran Turismo 7. Out on March 4th for PS4 and PS5, the racing sim offers several new features along with some familiar elements for series’ fans. First up is the World Map, a venerable paradise where all features can be accessed.

Upon starting the campaign, players are given credits to purchase a car. From there, you’ll be racing and unlocking new cars. As your Car Collection is bolstered, the new Gran Turismo Cafe becomes a familiar haunt. Its Car Collection Menus must be filled out and serve as a nice progress indicator. You may even run into the designers of said cars and learn more about the history behind them.

In Brand Central, players can purchase some 300 cars from 2001 onwards (with over 400 cars confirmed for the game). The Museum serves as a showroom for cars purchased but each manufacturer also has its own section where you can learn more about them (like the Museum of Porsche). The Used Car Dealer also offers cars for purchase at cheaper prices, though some may be even more costly due to their vintage nature. It’s updated and changed almost every day so keep checking back.

For more famous vehicles, you’ll want to stop at the Legendary Car Dealer since it specifically offer more well-known vehicles. The World Circuit is where various tracks are located and there are 34 locations with over 90 track layouts to partake in. Returning tracks like Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring and Deep Forest are all included.

Custom Race Mode allows for adjusting weather conditions and AI for cars while the famous License Tests for learning various techniques also return. Players can also take part in Mission Races for activities like drag racing and Drift Trials (which specifically test drifting techniques). Finally, along with Lobbies and Meeting Places to interact with players online, there’s also two-player split-screen multiplayer for enjoying at home. Stay tuned for more details on Gran Turismo 7 shortly.
