AMD has been pushing its supersampling tech FidelityFX Super Resolution (or FSR) as a competitor to Nvidia’s own DLSS for a while, and over the last year or so, we’ve seen it being widely supported in many games on PC. In the (hopefully) not-too-distant future, we might begin seeing that on consoles as well.

In June last year, it was confirmed that FSR had become available in preview for developers with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S development kits, and now, AMD confirms that FSR 2.0 will soo be coming to Xbox as well (via The Verge). There’s no actual window provided for when developers are going to begin taking advantage of FSR on Xbox consoles, but AMD says the supersampling tech will fully support Xbox.

In recent months, there’s been no shortage of developers that have spoken about how having Super Resolution support on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with games’ development, their visual fidelity, their performance, and more, so it should be interesting to see how quickly developers pounce on this, and how they make use of it.
