Trek to Yomi

Flying Wild Hog has released a 16 minute extended gameplay video for Trek to Yomi, its upcoming side-scrolling hack and slash title. It’s also confirmed to release on May 5th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC along with launching day one on PC Game Pass.

In terms of presentation, the action title draws on a monochrome color scheme akin to Akira Kurosawa films. The shifting camera angles and atmospherics help immerse in this tale of vengeance, which sees swordsman Hiroki on a quest to protect his town and loved ones following his master’s demise. Combat appears to be very straightforward with the ability to parry foes and cut them down.

Trek to Yomi isn’t a very long game though. Director Marcin Kryszpin told GamingBolt that it’s about five hours long on Normal difficulty. There are collectibles which provide more details on the setting of Edo-era Japan but “Retaining the feeling of a classic samurai movie was key.” Stay tuned for our full interview with the developer in the coming days.
