In the latest This Week at Bungie, the developer has outlined all of the changes coming to Destiny 2 in Season 17 (which is confirmed to start on May 24th). Glaives, which were introduced in The Witch Queen, have been under-performing since their introduction. While buffs to weapon damage won’t apply to Glaive melee attacks, they’re still receiving some meaningful buffs in the next season.
This includes 97.5 percent damage resistance with the shield in PvE (75 percent in PvP) and 25 percent increased melee damage against PvE enemies (not bosses or vehicles though) The energy drain from the shield is also being reduced by 30 percent. Based on one’s Range state, the Glaive’s projectile speed will also be buffed. At zero, it travels 60 m/s (up from 30) and at 100, it travels 100 m/s (instead of 80).
Exotic Glaives are also receiving their own buffs in addition to the global changes. The Titan’s Edge of Action will now provide a Void overshield inside of its bubble. Furthermore, the Helm of Saint-14 – which causes Ward of Dawn to blind enemies – will also apply to it. The Warlock’s Edge of Intent will see its healing turret projectiles having increased speed and acceleration.
The detonation wave of the Hunter’s Edge of Concurrence will see its damage tripled. The number of enemies it can chain to is also being increased from four to eight. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming sandbox changes in the next season.
