Ghostwire: Tokyo Director Says He’ll Eventually Want to Make DLC or Sequels

"I think that when things calm down a bit more, and when I've cooled down a bit more, I'll have ideas for DLC and sequels, and I'll want to make them," says Kenji Kimura.

Ghostwire: Tokyo might not have made a huge splash upon its launch in March, but with its vibrant and spooky recreation of the titular city and magic-infused combat, the game certainly amassed a dedicated fanbase. That fanbase will be hoping that there will be more to come from the IP in the future, and while there are no guarantees, the game’s director has suggested that might happen.

In a recent interview with IGN Japan (translations via GamesRader), Ghostwire: Tokyo director Kenji Kimura said that once he’s wound down from the game’s launch, he is likely going to want to make DLC or even sequels- though he added that nothing has been decided just yet.

“I think that when things calm down a bit more, and when I’ve cooled down a bit more, I’ll have ideas for DLC and sequels, and I’ll want to make them,” Kimura said. “Nothing has been decided yet, so I can’t tell you anything more than that.”

This isn’t the first time that Kimura has spoken about the possibility of DLC. Shortly before the game’s launch, he said that based on how well the game does, Tango Gameworks will be open to developing DLC “if the opportunity arises.”

Meanwhile, the Japanese studio currently has an unannounced project in the works as well. Led by The Evil Within 2 director John Johanas, it has been described by studio head Shinji Mikami as “the complete opposite of horror.” Read more on that through here.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is available on PS5 and PC. Once its PlayStation exclusivity ends in March of 2022, a year on from the game’s launch, it will likely also launch for Xbox and become available via Game Pass, with Tango Gameworks’ parent company now owned by Microsoft.
