Along with announcing that the Xbox App and cloud gaming via Game Pass Ultimate would be coming to 2022 Samsung Smart TVs, Microsoft revealed Project Moorcroft. It’s a program that will feature new “curated” demos of upcoming titles for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Rolling out within the next year, it will focus first on “providing independent developers from around the world more opportunities to build excitement for their games.”

Developers who participate can see the performance of their demos and also receive compensation (though Microsoft didn’t outline what this entailed). It will also allow for reaching “new audiences.” If the performance of Xbox Game Pass for various smaller titles has been any indication, then the increased exposure may be good for indie developers.

More gaming news and announcements from Microsoft are coming on June 12th at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase so stay tuned. While it seems Bethesda’s Starfield will be present, VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb reported that Fable and Perfect Dark won’t be. Stay tuned for more details and announcements in the coming days.
