Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot is taking a 30 percent pay cut for the 2022 financial year. As reported by Axios (and revealed in its 2022 Universal Registration Document), Guillemot will forgo roughly €310,607 in payment, which amounts to $327,000. His compensation for the next year thus drops to €624,824 or $656,000.

A representative stated, “This is a personal decision by Yves Guillemot, which he took considering that the company had not reached the financial targets that it had publicly communicated to the markets.” The company is still facing high risks concerning key talent departures and its ability to retain talent, as per the 2022 document.

Despite the success of titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft has been hit with numerous scandals and harassment allegations over the past few years. It’s also had several stalled projects facing development issues like Skull and Bones (which could receive a release date soon) and Beyond Good and Evil 2. This also doesn’t factor in ventures like Rainbow Six Extraction and Roller Champions failing to make an impact despite years of development.

The company does have several games releasing by the end of the fiscal year 2023 like Skull and Bones, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (with a gameplay reveal reportedly coming this week). Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
