Multiple recent developments have indicated that God of War Ragnarok, which is officially due out sometime in 2022, will get its release date announced soon. From prominent leaker The Snitch hinting at a June 30 announcement to journalist Jason Schreier claiming that the game is targeting a November release date and that an update is coming soon, there have been reports from multiple reliable sources that have strongly suggested that the wait for news on the highly anticipated sequel might come to an end soon.

However, it looks like we’re going to have to keep on waiting, for at least a little bit longer. The aforementioned Schreier recently took to Twitter and said that there was indeed a release date announcement planned for June 30, but it seems to have been delayed. Speaking with Kotaku, leaker The Snitch has also said the same.

On top of all that, Cory Barlog – director of 2018’s God of War and creative director at SIE Santa Monica Studio – has also very explicitly said over on Twitter that there is no announcement coming today, but at the same time, has also provided reassurances that that doesn’t mean the game has been delayed out of 2022.

Barlog has also asked fans in a separate message to be patient, stating that news will be shared “at the earliest possible moment” it can be.

Recently, prominent insider Tom Henderson indicated that God of War Ragnarok’s release date announcement wouldn’t be paired with a new gameplay trailer, and would instead come with details on its collector’s edition- read more on that through here. Whether that is still the plan following this alleged delay remains to be seen.

Whenever it launches, God of War Ragnarok will be available on PS5 and PS4.
