Striking Distance Studios founder Glen Schofield took the stage at Gamescom Opening Night Live to showcase new gameplay from The Callisto Protocol. Running on current-gen hardware, it starts with protagonist Jacob wandering around, slaying Biophages with firearms, a shock baton and the GRP, hurling them into nearby turbines. Check it out below.

One new mechanic that’s showcased is mutations, with a Biophage sprouting tentacles from its gut. If you don’t take it down quickly, then it could cause some serious trouble. This transitions to a scene where he’s sent down an extensive series of tunnels thanks to a sudden rush of water. There are plenty of places where Jacob could potentially die, including a giant fan that catches and crushes him.

The Callisto Protocol is out on December 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC. For more gameplay and details, head here. You can also watch some more brutal combat and deaths here. Stay tuned for breaking news and updates as the show progresses.
