Ryu ga Gotoku Studio’s next big Yakuza title is a throwback to the Late Edo Period and a remake of 2014’s Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! Like a Dragon: Ishin! is out early next year and focuses on Sakamoto Ryoma, who joins the Shinsengumi to search for the murderer of his mentor. A new trailer has been released, focusing on the gameplay and what fans of the series can expect.

There are four Combat Styles – Sword, Brawl, Gun, and Dance – with Ryoma capable of decimating opponents with various weapons. Weapons are upgradeable in different ways, but you can also use different abilities based on characters from other titles (including Yakuza: Like a Dragon). Whether it’s a ground slam or Kamehameha, there’s a lot of customization.

Other features like Substories, karaoke, fishing, and so on, are also included. Activities exclusive to the Bakumatsu era, like vegetable chopping, Jan-ken-pon, running a restaurant, traditional dance, and much more, can also be expected.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is out on February 21st, 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. For more story scenes, check out the “Ambush” trailer here.
