Atlus will release Vanillaware’s GrimGrimoire OnceMore for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch this April in the West. However, the developer’s last major title was 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, which released in 2019 for Japan and 2020 for the West. What’s next?
As it turns out, there’s a clue in the 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Prologue released in March 2019. The “Extras” section of the trial featured a teaser trailer for the studio’s next game. Speaking to Nintenderos (via Gematsu), Vanillaware co-founder George Kamitani says the title is “finally finished.”
“In March 2019, for reasons I won’t get into, we released only the prologue of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, but it did include a video of our next title in it. And now, it’s finally finished. While I’m not the director of that title, it’s one of Vanillaware’s biggest productions, so please look forward to it.”
What is Kamitani up to? We won’t know for a while, since “the title I’m working on right now won’t be finished for several years, but once that big title I’m telling you about is finished, I should get some development staff, so development of my project will finally move into full swing.”
Neither Atlus nor Vanillaware have announced a release window or platforms for this new title. However, it could be revealed later this year, especially with the publisher teasing “several new unannounced titles.” Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
GrimGrimoire OnceMore launches on April 4th in North America and April 7th in Europe. Along with HD art, it provides a new skill tree, improved UI, English localization and voiceovers, and much more. Check out the latest trailer here.
