Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released several new details on Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, including its Live Command battle system. Battles are turn-based, akin to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, but now characters can move, allowing you to execute combos with allies more easily or get closer to environmental objects to use as weapons.

Some items can explode and deal extensive damage, while others can be held for battle. New area-of-effect attacks allow for hitting multiple enemies in a space or a straight line, while knockback attacks have improved, allowing you to knock enemies into walls and each other. You can even send them into fire or explosive objects for more damage or status ailments.

Combo attacks can be performed between allies with a “strong connection,” so deepening those bonds is a good idea. Furthermore, Perfect Attacks now deal extra hits and can even be redirected to hit several targets. Finally, there’s Smackdown, which lets you defeat much weaker enemies instantly. It provides less XP, but you can still get money and items, making farming easier.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is out on January 26th, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. It’s also launching on day one for Game Pass. Check out the PC requirements here.
