With Season of the Wish out today for Bungie’s Destiny 2, it also marks the limited rollout of the Fireteam Finder. This LFG-style system will allow players to seek groups in-game to complete activities like Dungeons, Raids and whatnot. In a new update video, game director Joe Blackburn outlined the team’s approach to the rollout.

He also says it’s not “hyperbole” to say, “I think Fireteam Finder is going to change the way so many of you interact with Destiny 2 on a day-to-day basis.” However, it’s also a “pretty big technical change to the game. So we want to be really careful with how we roll this out.”

The first testing period is already confirmed for November 30th, from 9 AM to 5 PM PST, with players able to access all the Raids. “We’re going to be doing limited windows, with limited activities to start,” said Blackburn. “That’s going to allow us to collect the data we need, take it on, see how server stability is affected, take it off, make changes, and then roll it out better and better each time.”

The ultimate goal is to create a Fireteam Finder for Raids, Dungeons, Strikes, PvP, “whatever you want that needs a group” by the time the New Year rolls around and before The Final Shape launches. With a beta slated for December (depending on the stress test’s results) and the tool targeting late January 2024, it may see some delays. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape launches on June 4th, 2024, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. A reveal is coming in April to showcase new gameplay and details.
