Even with Legacy Heists, bug fixes, balance changes and quality-of-life improvements, Payday 3’s player numbers are nowhere near its predecessor. The team at Starbreeze Studios recognizes this and revealed its plans for the future in a new Steam post.

“We’re well aware that many of you aren’t satisfied with the game in its current state. Since launch, we’ve been reading your valuable feedback in forums, social media, video comments, and the FeatureUpvote page. This helps us massively and is crucial to the continued development of Payday 3.

“To turn your feedback into action, we’ve put together a strike team of veteran developers from the design, community, communication and production teams with the focus on bringing Payday 3 up to where it will meet your expectations.” The team is working on a plan that will “shape the game into the heisting experience you expect from a Payday sequel in both the short and long term.”

Starbreeze also wants to ensure that it’s not simply reacting to complaints and instead working on “any possible improvements one by one with the care, thought and planning they deserve.” It will detail a plan for improvements in February and when they’ll arrive.

Payday 3 launched last September for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with players facing server issues and couldn’t queue for heists. Though it resolved the online issues, many raised complaints about the quality of the experience, from the focus on challenges to the lack of CRIME.NET and other noteworthy features. Sales were initially strong for the co-op heist shooter but dipped afterwards due to the issues. Starbreeze has since released patches to award Infamy Points for completing Heists, buffing AI crewmate health and more. It was also looking into an offline mode, though further details have yet to be revealed. Stay tuned next month for updates.
