While Microsoft has teased next-generation Xbox hardware, the “largest technical leap” seen in a console generation, Xbox president Sarah Bond confirmed some upcoming hardware news later this year. On the Official Xbox Podcast, she said, “There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday.”

There are no further details, but this may be the rumored mid-gen refresh of the current Xbox hardware. During Microsoft’s trial with the FTC, documents leaked a new Xbox Series X codenamed Brooklin with a 12 TFLOPS GPU, 2 TB internal storage, and “all digital” content delivery. It would also have a new low-power standby mode and the Xbox Wireless 2 controller.

The Xbox Series S is also reportedly getting a refresh codenamed Ellewood. Of course, it’s difficult to say how old these plans were when they leaked. Microsoft may have changed course on the same, but an announcement in fiscal year 24/25 seems to line up with the Holiday window.

Of course, given that there may only be details, said hardware could be further off (potentially next year). As always, stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.
