Everwild is “Still Coming” – Rumour

Rare's mystery game was announced all the way back in 2019, but as per reports, it's development has been riddled with troubles.

Microsoft has plenty of upcoming first-party titles under its belt that it announced years ago and still hasn’t revealed a ton of details for, but in that group, none have been as frustrating as Rare’s Everwild. Announced all the way back in 2019, not only have updates on the game been nonexistent, reports have also claimed that it has endured a torrid development cycle, and that there isn’t even much clarity on what exactly it’s going to be, even internally within Rare.

It is, however, still a game that Rare is actively working on. At least, that’s what journalist Jez Corden has claimed. Recently on the Xbox Two podcast, while making predictions about games that are likely to show up at the imminent Xbox Games Showcase, Corden said that while Everwild is unlikely to show up at the event, it’s “still coming” and remains in development, for those who may have feared that it could have been canned.

What exactly is it going to be, however? Well, on that front, Corden is less clear, though he says it’s going to be some sort of co-op multiplayer experience. Last year, reports claimed that after reboots, Everwild was no longer being developed as a survival game, and would instead borrow elements from Viva Pinata, Rare’s own Xbox 360 title.

Back in 2021, reports claimed that Everwild had been in the works for five years at the time. For a game that’s approaching a decade in development, it’s surprising that we know as little about it as we do, but hopefully, Rare has made progress in defining a clear vision for the game and taking significant steps towards revealing new details on what to expect.
