Dead Cells - The End is Near

The final content update for Motion Twin’s Dead Cells, The End is Near, finally has a launch date for consoles and PC. It arrives on August 19th, per the developer on Twitter.

The End is Near entered the alpha stage in August 2023, with Steam players capable of testing it. Though it received patches and entered beta in September, there wouldn’t be any details until February 2024, when developer Evil Empire announced the end of content support.

It will continue fixing bugs and other issues going forward, though the focus will be on the studio’s next game, Windblown. The latter enters early access for PC later this year.

The End is Near introduces new Cursed Mobs, capable of stacking curses on players. Curses mean any single hit will insta-kill The Beheaded, but they can be removed by slaying enemies. Other notable additions include Cursed Biomes, where Cursed Mobs reside and provide ample rewards for clearing them, and three new weapons.

Nearly 20 new Legendary Affixes will also be added alongside balance adjustments (like The Bank becoming slightly easier at certain Boss Cell levels). Stay tuned for detailed patch notes ahead of its launch.
