Alongside a new story trailer, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake has received extensive gameplay through various publications. VGC published 27 minutes of new footage from the PS5 version, which covers multiple aspects of the experience. Check it out below.

It starts with the classic opening, as protagonist James Sunderland views himself in the mirror before exiting the dilapidated bathroom and looking out over Silent Hill. The English voice acting of Luke Roberts and Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, who play James and Maria/Mary respectively, is on full display and sounds pretty good.

Thus begins the trek into the town, obscured with fog and echoing with ominous noises, as horrifying documents and signs emerge. Though combat, both melee and gunplay, is showcased, there’s also a bit of puzzle-solving, like gluing two pieces of a vinyl record back together and playing it. You’ll also need to get your hands dirty to obtain a key.

The gameplay ends with a desperate encounter against Pyramid Head, still dragging the Great Knife and unfazed by any attacks. Of course, the siren sounds, and it inexplicably retreats.

Silent Hill 2 remake launches on October 8th for PS5 and PC. Deluxe Edition owners can start playing on October 6th while availing other bonuses. Head here for more details.
