We haven’t seen an awful lot of platformers from Sony in recent years, so it’s no surprise that genre purists are as excited as they are to get their hands on Astro Bot. The upcoming platformer has looked increasingly promising with each of its showings in recent weeks and months, and ahead of its imminent launch, Sony and developer Team Asobi have kicked off a new behind-the-scenes series of dev diaries covering the game’s development.

The first video focuses on crafting the perfectly tuned gameplay and movement options for a platformer, with members of the development team speaking about the flow and smoothness of movement, the rhythm of player actions during moment-to-moment gameplay, and the responsiveness of actions. Check out the video below, and stay tuned for four more behind-the-scenes videos in the pipeline.

Astro Bot launches for PS5 on September 6. Sony has released a launch trailer to hype up its imminent release- check it out through here. Reviews for the platformer will begin going live on September 5.
