Astro Bot has turned out to be an absolute revelation, and even though many would have predicted that a full-fledged console entry for the platforming franchise would be well-received, not many would have predicted that it would have received the universal acclaim that it has enjoyed. To highlight some of that acclaim, Sony has released an accolades trailer for the title. Check it out below.

Astro Bot is currently the best-reviewed game of the year, with an aggregate score of 94 on Metacritic, and 95 on OpenCritic, putting it ahead of the likes of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Where sales are concerned, the game sold over 12,000 physical units in Japan on debut, while also selling out on Amazon Japan. In the UK, its launch sales have exceeded the likes of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and Sonic Frontiers

In our review of Astro Bot, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Astro Bot is a wonderful love letter to all things PlayStation, and an exceptional platformer in its own right. If you own a PS5, you need to play this game.” Read the full review through here.

Developer Team Asobi has also confirmed that it will release free DLC for the platformer. The DLC will include several speedrun levels, as well as new VIP bots and leaderboards. Where VIP bots are concerned, the base game’s credits suggest we could see representation for franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, Stellar Blade, and more.
