Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered is promising visually enhanced versions of Crystal Dynamics’ acclaimed classics, which in and of itself is an alluring enough offer for many, but it will, of course, feature bonus content on top of that as well. In a PlayStation Blog post, the remaster’s developer Aspyr has shared new details on what to expect on that front.
Chief among the remaster’s bonus additions will, of course, be the four Lost Levels that will allow players to explore areas that were cut from the original Soul Reaver. Beyond that, however, you can also expect a new Lore Reader, which will feature new maps “poetic descriptions of places and events” that have been created in collaboration with the Legacy of Kain Fandom leaders, key community members, and Crystal Dynamics artists. Each map will also allow players to toggle between its pure and corrupted versions.
The remaster will also feature a Galleries section, which will include new and classic HD renders, enhanced versions of the original games’ FMV cinematics, concept art for players to peruse, and the original credits, demo videos, and outtakes. There’s also a Dark Chronicles section, which will tout a “a concise, text-based version of both games’ scripts in their entirety.”
Finally, the soundtracks of both original games will also be included. In addition to the original duology’s music, you can also expect a couple of new compositions, including the likes of “Priestess Encounter” and “Spirit Forge”.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered is due out for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on December 10.
