Ciri took centerstage in The Witcher 4’s surprise reveal trailer at The Game Awards last week, with CD Projekt RED confirming that she will be taking over from Geralt of Rivia as the series’ new protagonist going forward. We did, of course, see plenty of her in The Witcher 3, but based on the trailer, her next appearance will come with some changes, not only because she’s going to be relatively older and more experienced, and because she’s now going to be a Witcher, but also because she’s going to sound different.
Ciri’s voice did indeed sound different in the Witcher 4 trailer compared to her voice in The Witcher 3, and sure enough, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that she’s being played by a different actor this time. In a statement to TheGamer, the developer revealed that Jo Wyatt, who voiced the character in The Witcher 3, isn’t returning, and that Ciri is instead being played by Ciara Berkeley this time (Normal People, Swing Bout).
“Ciara Berkeley was cast as Ciri for The Witcher 4 Cinematic Reveal Trailer,” the developer said, confirming that Berkeley plays the character in the full game, too. “Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and vocal acting skills, and in this trailer we believe she truly brought Ciri to life in a way that is both faithful to the character and exciting for fans of the series.”
Though Ciri is going to be the new main protagonist in The Witcher 4, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that Geralt will still also have a role to play, with voice actor Doug Cockle set to return.
