With a new State of Play rumored for next week, there’s some buzz about Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach appearing. Director Hideo Kojima did promise a release date announcement this year, and based on his recent tweets, a new trailer seems a given.

“Sitting at the editing desk for the first time in a year. I’ve been too busy to actually start editing, so I’ve been ‘air-editing’ in my head — listening to potential tracks on my Walkman while walking or on the flight, probably about a hundred times. But now that I’ve finally loaded everything into the editing system, it’s not quite matching the image I had in mind.”

The tweet includes a picture of Chocola BB Royal 2, a Vitamin B2 drink. Of course, the letters “BB” stand out, further hinting at the trailer being for Death Stranding 2.

There’s still room for reasonable doubt with the second tweet featuring an image of “A Hideo Kojima Game.” However, since Kojima seemingly spoke about crunching on Death Stranding 2 and how Physint’s casting will resume this year, the former looks more likely. There’s also the fact that actor Shioli Kutsuna (who plays Rainy) wrapped up her part several weeks ago.

Regardless, stay tuned for updates in the coming days. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch this year exclusively for PS5. Check out our feature for the latest details.
