The road to Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s release is long, but Capcom continues to reveal new details about the hack-and-slash title. For instance, it confirmed that the target is a 20-hour length, though it didn’t confirm if this is just for the story or includes the side content.

In the same interview with Famitsu magazine (translation via DeepL), director Satoru Nihei and producer Akihito Kadowaki confirmed other noteworthy details, like the lack of direct connections to previous titles. This ensures that the plot will be more accessible to new players, but there will likely be references for long-time fans.

Difficulty options haven’t been confirmed, but Way of the Sword will feature stage-based progression rather than going open world. You’ll also encounter various puzzles to solve, though the katana is your primary weapon throughout.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out the latest gameplay trailer here.
