After launching for PC last January, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced this during the latest Virtua Fighter Direct and even released a new trailer. Check it out below.
During the Direct, legacy Virtua Fighter project producer Seiji Aoki confirmed cross-play support and rollback netcode on all platforms. He also promised “even more content to make this much more than a simple port,” with further details to be revealed in “future updates.” A release date/window was not announced.
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is a port of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, which launched for the PS4 in 2021 (and is itself based on 2012’s Final Showdown). Though it offers 4K visuals and rollback netcode, it attracted criticism for omitting Quest Mode. Its cosmetic customization is also limited, with many options limited to the 30th Anniversary Edition.
The new content could likely arrive for PC players as a free or paid update. Stay tuned for more updates.
