Battlefield 6 Features a New “Flick Look” for Instant 180-Degree Turns

The new setting allows console players to remain competitive when matched against those on PC, but has received mixed responses.

As the biggest Battlefield beta ever and hundreds of thousands of players on Steam alone, Electronic Arts’ next mainline title in the franchise is set for success. That doesn’t mean it’s perfect, especially given criticisms surrounding map design, lack of class restrictions on weapons beyond specific playlists, and so on. However, its latest feature has seemingly divided fans down the middle.

As revealed by The Tactical Brit on Twitter, a new control option called Flick Look is available, and as the name implies, it allows players to flick their aim. Since you can map this to a single button and it encompasses 180 degrees, it’s ideal for quickly turning on anyone who ambushes you. However, it’s also a problem, effectively removing any real skill required in aim flicking.

For those on consoles, it’s a significant boon, especially when matched against PC players, and that it’s not an especially new feature in video games. However, others feel it’s out of place in a tactical shooter such as Battlefield. Then you have those who don’t mind it but think that its speed should be toned down.

Whether DICE will address this ahead of Battlefield 6’s launch on October 10th remains to be seen, so stay tuned. The beta wraps today but will return on August 14th for all platforms and conclude on August 17th.
