It’s been hard for Starfield fans this year, especially with Bethesda’s assurances of “exciting things” yielding very little. However, a new Developer Spotlight video saw lead creative producer Tim Lamb confirming that new story DLC is indeed in the works. The last time we officially heard anything about this was last year, when Todd Howard said the studio is planning another DLC after Shattered Space.
Thankfully, that’s not all, as free updates are also incoming. Lamb also revealed that “part of the team has been focused on space gameplay to make the travels there more rewarding.” This seemingly lines up with references to proper interplanetary travel that players spotted earlier this month.
Of course, there will also be “some new game systems, and a few other smaller delights.” Lamb also promised some “really interesting stuff coming down the pipe from our verified creators,” though it’s likely to be confined to the Creations store. Time will tell.
While there’s no ETA for all of this, rumors indicate that the next DLC will launch in Spring 2026, coinciding with the game’s PS5 version. Starfield is currently available for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Despite critical acclaim and over 15 million players as of November 2024, it has received extensive criticism from long-time fans.
