Despite the lack of an official name and release date, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi continues to talk about the “really good state” that Part 3 of the Remake trilogy is in.

Speaking to VGC, he said, “We’re working really hard on the third game in the Remake series at the moment. It’s coming along really well. I’ve got in my head the vision now, the gameplay structure, the gameplay experience, the core experience, and it’s looking in a really good state.”

While he didn’t offer much by way of details, Hamaguchi said it’s “something really satisfying that gamers can get their teeth into, and it’ll be just a brilliant experience that it really should be and has to be. So we’re going to work on that, brush that up even further, and then deliver it in the not-too-distant future.

“You really can look forward to the climax of the series, and it’ll be exactly what you want it to be. So don’t worry about that. It’s coming, and it’s just as good as you think it is. I’m very confident in the game that I’m making there.”

Recently, Hamaguchi talked about the game’s ending and how it would be “loved by everyone.” He also teased a “new gameplay experience,” somewhat akin to Rebirth and its open-world structure. However, for those who felt like the second part dragged due to some sections, he also promised a “bit more concise structure” for Part 3 (while disagreeing that some sections in Rebirth went on for “longer than necessary.”)

Creative director Tetsuya Nomura also spoke about how the release date is already internally decided – when it will be revealed remains to be seen. Nevertheless, he also assured that things are “going very smoothly.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. In the meantime, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade launches on January 22nd, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2. Rebirth is also coming to both, but a release date has yet to be announced.
