Keep your Mass Effect 3 save files safe- BioWare

Posted By | On 02nd, Feb. 2012

Just because Mass Effect 3 is the end of the trilogy doesn’t mean it’s the end of the story altogether. Once you’re done with Mass Effect 3, BioWare says you should probably hang on to your save files, since they might come in use later.

“It wouldn’t be a bad idea (to keep your ME3 saves),” said ME3 producer Mike Gamble while talking to GamerZines last week. “Obviously I can’t say anything, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea…”

Mass Effect 2 and 3 both have the ability to use save files from previous games and take the decisions you made in them into account and change the game’s story according to that. Mass Effect 3, for example, will have 1000 variables from Mass Effect 1 and 2.

BioWare is obviously teasing at a future Mass Effect game that might use these saves. They have reaffirmed the fact that Mass Effect 3 isn’t the last of the space-faring RPG franchise, but it’s good to know that they’re still thinking about it.

Gamble also says that ME3’s ending will leave players satisfied and answer all questions that fans have, unlike so many other conclusions in the past (*cough*Lost*cough*).

He thinks that co-op won’t become more common in RPGs anytime soon, but that it’s going to work very well in ME3.

A full list of the weapons and upgrades in the game was recently leaked. Check it out here.

Mass Effect 3 releases on March 6 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
