Following its not-so-surprising announcement last month, Bloober Team has dropped new details on Cronos: Lazarus, the upcoming expansion for its sci-fi horror game. Except this time, you’re playing as the Pathfinder, who would become the Warden, and terminating Orphans with extreme prejudice rather than conserving resources.
In a new developer diary, the team outlines two new abilities that give him an edge: Teleportation and Decoy. The former allows for quicker navigation of levels and getting the drop on enemies during combat. The latter creates a copy of the Pathfinder to distract enemies, as he goes invisible and can either create some space or shoot freely.
You can also use these in conjunction, since Teleportation will reduce the cooldown on Decoy. There’s also the Gladius, described as a more “deadlier” version of the Dagger, which is “quicker and stronger.”
With all these powerful tools at his disposal, it only makes sense for the Collective to send something equally as capable to hunt him down. That’s the Envoy, which has been tailored specifically to deal with the Pathfinder, and seemingly leads to some “Hunter becoming the hunted” moments. Regardless, the latter won’t stop on his mission to find a mysterious someone very important to him.
Cronos: Lazarus arrives this Fall for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Check out our review for the base game (which recently broke even) in the meantime.
